Chelsey’s Bio

Chelsey Goodan is not just shaping the lives of teenage girls; she’s shaping the future of empowerment and connection for us all. Goodan is the author of the Oprah’s Book Club and Oprah Daily endorsed book Underestimated: The Wisdom and Power of Teenage Girls, which is a fresh and unexpected guide to better understand teenage girls and how their perspectives can create heartfelt connections and impactful change. Through her 16 years as an academic tutor and mentoring girls from underserved communities, Goodan uncovered universal truths from teenage girls’ struggles with self-doubt, authenticity, leadership, connection and power. These realizations inspired her to write a book that offers insights for collective growth and empowerment.

Goodan has emerged as a leading voice for reshaping school and work environments to empower women’s voices. Her USA TODAY bestselling book was named “Best Nonfiction” by Amazon’s Editorial Director and has garnered acclaim from TODAY With Hoda & Jenna, Hello Sunshine, NBC News Daily, TIME Magazine, and public figures like Academy Award-winning actress Laura Dern who commented, “Chelsey changes the lives of teenage girls for the better by deepening connections and helping everyone feel more heard and understood.”

Goodan’s influence also extends beyond the written word. She regularly conducts workshops, coaches parents on how to better understand and connect with their daughters, and speaks to audiences about gender justice. With entertaining ease, she shares unexpected tools and communication strategies she’s learned from teenage girls that directly translate to the workplace and teaches leadership frameworks tailored for corporate environments. Her unique approach, which demonstrates how to effectively communicate with and motivate employees, transforms teams and cultivates a growth-minded corporate culture.

As an advocate for social impact, she advises public figures, mobilizes volunteers, and orchestrates large-scale events for national nonprofits. She serves as the mentorship director of the nonprofit DemocraShe and as a board member of the organization A Call to Men.

From entertainment executives to girls’ empowerment camps to Naval officers to tech innovators convening on Richard Branson’s private island, Goodan captivates diverse audiences with the unexpected insights of teenage girls, leaving them equipped with practical tools for empowerment, connection, and inspiration to achieve their fullest potential.

Goodan is a graduate of NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, and she currently resides in Los Angeles.
